TTC Group Road Safety Awards

The TTC Group has been nominated for three road safety awards for an innovative training scheme targeting young drivers.

Their RoadSmart young driver programme created for Avon and Somerset Police has been shortlisted in three categories in the 2017 FirstCar Young Driver Road Safety Awards.

A record number of entries were received for the awards scheme which recognises the efforts of road safety professionals to reduce casualties among young drivers.

The TTC Group, which educates 330,000 road users each year, is nominated in the categories of Education and Training Initiative, New Scheme and Partnership Scheme.

Alan Prosser, TTC Group director, said: “We are very pleased to have been nominated for three awards especially as there were a record number of high quality entries this year.

“We are all working to reduce the tragic number of road casualties, especially among young people, where the casualty rate is the highest.”

RoadSmart was launched in 2014 with Avon and Somerset Police to tackle the tragedy of a third of those killed or seriously injured on the force’s roads being aged between 17 and 24.

The two hour course, provided free to young drivers, raises awareness of road hazards and aims to change driving behaviour to reduce casualties.

The awards ceremony will be held on April 26 in London.
