A man who back packed around the world and a former professional football referee turned motivational performance coach are the dynamic duo behind an innovative new training organisation aimed at tackling low level crime in the UK.

Probation manager David Ellicott and former Head of Youth Offending Des Morrison – both with over 20 years experience in criminal justice and public protection - have joined forces with the award winning alcohol and drug education specialists, the TTC Group, to provide an answer to low level crime by educating offenders.

Criminal Justice Training Solutions (CJTS) aims to work with the probation service to steer people away from crime through high quality “interventions” to turnaround “low risk” offenders leading to greater public protection.

They will provide Offending Behaviour Programmes and Unpaid Work Solutions including alcohol and drug education, vocational skills, offender supervision and individual and group work placements.

Their mixture of abounding energy, internal belief blended with years of professional experience puts them in good stead to motivate offenders.
“We intend to make a tangible difference. We will forge strong partnerships with probation and provide high quality training which will be more cost effective and lead to better results,” said Des, based upon his wealth of experience at senior management and practitioner level across the criminal justice sector.

He has also worked with partners in community safety, crime and disorder, Youth Crime Prevention and social inclusion.
The former Premiership assistant referee who has calmed down many irate situations on the football field added: “Specific programmes for offenders will be created to give them skills and re-training and build up their confidence so that they will not re-offend in the future.

“The best outcome for an offender and for society is to enable them to secure a job. We hope to bridge the gap and encourage employers to take a measured risk and give them that chance to keep them on the straight and narrow.”

Their partners in crime prevention are TTC Group director Jenny Wynn, a former senior probation officer and husband Graham, a former magistrate, who run the drink drive rehabilitation programme – the largest in the UK putting more than 10,000 offenders through their courses each year. Their highly acclaimed courses have been praised for reducing re-offending rates nationwide.

The TTC Group are specialists in alcohol and drug education and also run training courses for the corporate world to reduce road risk at work. They will join forces to provide drug misuse education to raise awareness among offenders and motivate them to stop.

“Linking up our two organisations means that together we have a very experienced and professional team able to provide solutions to the criminal justice system across the UK,” said Jenny, whose company has more than 100 trainers nationwide, many former senior police and probation officers.
