Training your company drivers is “good value for money” and part of an employer’s duty of care for their staff, said an NHS manager.
A total of 23 motorists who work for NHS Telford and Wrekin Children and Adolescent Mental Health Service (CAMHS) first tackled an online driver training session run by Shropshire’s TTC Automotive, national specialists in business driver education.
Nine were then given on road driver training sessions from TTC Automotive instructors before a classroom session on drink, drug and speed awareness held at the Hadley Park House Hotel in Telford.
“We want to invest in our employees to look after their health and well being and make them more informed. It’s all about having a safe staff,” said Stephanie Andrews, NHS Telford and Wrekin’s Head of Telford CAMHS (pictured receiving a certificate after the course from TTC instructor David Siveter)
One member of staff said that they felt “valued and honoured” to have been able to access the course.
“The course was very good value for money. The whole course was very relevant, delivered in a fun yet thought provoking way,” said Stephanie.
TTC Automotive director Jo Baugh said that many employers were now training their staff to make them safer on the roads and cutting costs at the same time with better fuel efficiency.
“With better driving techniques, companies are successfully reducing their fuel bills. Education leads to fewer accidents on the road and a cut in repair bills and insurance costs for firms.
“They also comply with all the new health and safety regulations which companies are now required to meet.”
TTC Automotive tailors Driving for Business training courses to suit individual companies and the public sector. It is part of the TTC Group, a national driver training organisation, of Hadley Park, Telford, which runs drink drive, speed awareness and National Driver Improvement courses on behalf of police and councils across the UK.
