National business driver trainers TTC Automotive has won a contract to provide driver training for Mark Group, a company which helps to make UK homes energy efficient.
The national specialists in driver education will contribute to the energy savings company – by helping the firm to reduce its road fuel consumption.
TTC trainers will help employees improve vehicle handling and road safety techniques leading to a cut in fuel costs. Trainees will go on to become assessors through TTC Automotive’s programme to develop Mark Group’s road safety improvement programme through the rest of the company.
Driver training has just started for 40 members of staff at the Leicester based company in its new fleet which includes more than 400 commercial delivery vehicles with bodies made from recycled plastic bottles - a lightweight material which makes them more fuel-efficient.
“We are delighted to have been selected by the Mark Group to help them achieve their aims of improving safety, reducing fuel consumption and reducing costs,” said TTC Automotive director Simon Baugh pictured left with Mark Group's Kevin Cook.
TTC Automotive helps large and small organisations to manage business vehicles and drivers to promote safety, reduce running costs and meet legal requirements. With a national network of highly qualified trainers, it tailors Driving for Business training courses for companies and the public sector.
Kevin Cook, Mark Group Health and Safety Director, said: “We are all being encouraged to do things such as drive more fuel efficient cars or car share and to reduce our CO2 emissions. So as a company, which is focussed on finding energy saving solutions, we wanted to take some significant steps towards making our vehicles greener.
“We approached TTC Automotive to see how their driver training programme could be of benefit to us, not only for ensuring our drivers were highly skilled but also the potential for reducing fuel consumption. This coupled with the lightweight vehicles we are using, means we are applying energy saving solutions to yet another aspect of our business operations.”
