Fleet driver training
TTC’s corporate driver training courses can combine both practical and theory tuition. Courses are designed to give drivers a greater understanding of their personal responsibility when on the road and how this will affect their company or organisation. Drivers will be taught the latest defensive driving techniques to improve behaviour and develop a more responsible attitude toward driving and other road users. All our courses are certificated and therefore count towards your employees CPD (continued professional development).
Employers must put their drivers on this course to educate and protect them on the roads.

Managing occupational road risk
Occupational Road Risk is about alcohol and drugs, mobile phones, hours of work and journey planning. Right? Oh, and fatigue as well.
But that is only part of it. The big picture that is Occupational Road Risk starts with the recruitment of the right staff. It then goes through a safety culture involving policy, planning, (including telematics) driver training, (including driver profiling) equipment and maintenance, driven by a management with the desire to promote safety and wellbeing for its workforce.
Adopting a system of Managing Occupational Road Risk is worthwhile for several reasons:
- Cost savings
- Insurance benefits
- Better motivated workforce
- Clear accountability for management
- Compliance with legal responsibilities

National Driver Improvement Scheme
The TTC Group acts as the service provider on behalf of Kent Highway Services for the National Driver Improvement Scheme. As an alternative to court prosecution the police refer drivers to the scheme.
It is offered to some drivers who are deemed to have been involved in 'driving without due care and attention' incidents. These incidents may include being involved in an incident/crash or using a mobile phone when driving

Speed awareness courses
It is well documented that speed, or inappropriate speed contributes to a significant percentage of all crashes and a higher percentage of more serious crashes.
Each year excessive and inappropriate speed kills around 1,200 people and injures around 100,000. This is the largest contributor to casualties on the road.
The overall aim of the course is to explore and challenge the reasons why people speed and to help drivers develop a personal speed awareness strategy to prevent future lapses leading to misuse of speed.

Alcohol & drug awareness training
The TTC Group can offer training to your workforce about drug and alcohol issues and how they affect the workplace. (not just driving) This can range from health education for staff, through to how to recognise signs and symptoms of drink / drug problems for supervisors, and can include advice on policy formation at boardroom level.
Many medicines that are readily available at your pharmacy, although not illegal to drive on, can also put your drivers at risk by causing drowsiness.
Professional drivers have a good track record with regards to drink / drug driving. Nonetheless there are certain misconceptions regarding drugs and alcohol that may leave them vulnerable.
The minimum punishment for a drink / drug drive offence is a 12 month ban from driving all motor vehicles. Even when an ‘ordinary’ licence is granted, you then have to ask the Traffic Commissioner for the re-instatement of a vocational licence. Their response will depend on the severity of the original offence and whether it is a first offence.
TTC has a splendid reputation for raising awareness of road safety issues. They are working to reduce the toll of death and injuries on our roads each year. What TTC is involved in, is a worthy cause.

Alcohol & drug education for schools and colleges
TTC provides a full range of services for 10 – 18 year old students. We aim to create a balanced and informed view of alcohol and its impact on health and anti social behaviour.
In colleges the short interactive presentations on alcohol can also be combined with information for new drivers to help prevent them becoming a drink drive statistic. In schools our programmes include; a high energy pop performance – in partnership with David Graham. Interactive alcohol education sessions ensuring pupils understand alcohol units and the impact of underage drinking on health and anti social behaviour. We use a range of materials including Drunkbuster goggles to make the sessions fun whilst getting across serious messages and offering "cool alternatives". We also offer "Training for trainers" as a cost effective option equipping teachers with relevant up to date skills to teach alcohol education. We are currently working with teachers to develop a cross curriculum teaching pack with lessons for English/ maths/ biology/ chemistry/ history/ geography/ drama etc. to ensure alcohol education is fully integrated into the curriculum.
